Karin was born in Monterey, California, USA. She grew up in a military family and has thus lived all over the USA: Rhode Island, Alabama, Virginia, Florida and Maryland. She graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Sweet Briar College in Virginia with a major in French. She received a Master degree in French from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Though presently employed as a bookkeeper, she has experience as a college instructor of foreign languages. Her most rewarding experience has been teaching English to speakers of other languages. Not only has she had the pleasure of being a mentor to students from Asia, Latin America and the Arab world; she has also gained a deep appreciation and respect for her native tongue as being a very rich and powerful language. She has traveled extensively in Europe and lived in France for a couple of years. Her interests are writing, great books, poetry, classical music, languages, travel and swimming. She is a published, award-winning poet.
